I licked the melted chocolate flecked with bits of marshmallows and nuts from the still warm pot. And I forgot about everything else. All the cares of adulthood drifted out through the tear in the window screen.
I grabbed several squares of dark and milk chocolate, gooey marshmallow, and nuggets of chopped nuts for breakfast. And all the things not done this morning didn’t matter. With a gold superhero cape tied about my shoulders I could fly over the cares that had worried me.
Here is another homemade Halloween candy. I’d never realized how much like a candy bar Rocky Road is. Adapted from Better Homes and Garden.
What you want to do is melt 16 ounces chocolate equal parts semisweet and milk, add 3 cups mini marshmallows and 3/4 cup toasted, chopped mixed nuts, stir until coated in chocolate, pour into a buttered baking dish or pie dish, refrigerate until hard, and eat. I mean remove from pan, cut into proper serving size squares and hand out.
That’s the really easy idea behind this candy. There are more complex instructions out there requiring measuring, tempering, cooling, more ingredients, double boilers, so on and on. A quick search will bring them up. You can even look on the chocolate packaging — I found one there too.
